| About the Museum | Polk Museum of Art is a fine art museum located in the heart of Central Florida – just minutes away from Tampa and Orlando! We feature a dynamic, rotating exhibition schedule, as well as a permanent display of Pre-Columbian artifacts, an outdoor sculpture garden, and a gallery devoted to artwork created by Polk County students. Exhibiting artists have included Miriam Schapiro, Donald Sultan, Theodore Waddell, Robert Zakanitch, Ginny Ruffner, Hung Liu, and Albert Paley. Our Permanent Collection features works by many nationally known artists including Miriam Schapiro, Albert Paley, Faith Ringgold, Robert Rauschenberg, James Rosenquist, and Eduoard Duval-CarriĆ©, as well as collections of Pre-Columbian, Asian, European Decorative, and African arts. While you are in town, be sure to visit the Florida Outdoor Sculpture Competition, a joint project of Polk Museum of Art and the City of Lakeland. The Competition features 10 sculptures on display on the Lemon Street Promenade in Downtown Lakeland. Sculptures are on display March through February, with new sculptures installed every March. |
