Christie’s sells fake painting

A painting sold 3 years ago in London by Christie’s for £1.69m is a fake said Russian officials. The claim is backed by 2 Russian museums, which concluded the work was by an unknown painter rather than Boris Kustodiev, a renowned 19th-century Russian artist. Its owner has approached Christie’s to claim a refund and the auction house has promised to investigate, UK media reported.
